We believe that music plays an important part in both the school curriculum and the day-to-day life of the pupils. Through our taught curriculum, pupils listen to a range of music pieces ranging across genres. They are encouraged to engage with these and explore their preferences for music types. Our music curriculum develops pupil’s knowledge and understanding of singing, performing, notation, composition and notation. This equips pupils with the knowledge and skills to express themselves musically and develop their joy of music. In KS2, children are taught to play the recorders as a class and it is explored as an extracurricular activity by younger children. We also have links with the RCC Music Hub, who regularly provide whole-class specialist singing and musical instrument lessons. Catmose Primary has a choir which all children, from Year 2 upwards, are welcome to join. Our choir proudly perform for the rest of the school at events such as the Harvest Festival.

We have access to a wide range of peripatetic tutors through our link with Catmose College. Currently on offer are lessons in: guitar, violin, drums, flute and piano.  However, we can access other tutors if your chosen musical instrument is not listed here. Application forms can be collected from the School and for more information please contact tcurley@catmosecollege.com.
