COVID Response – National Lockdown

REMOTE LEARNING

This post adds to our previous post regarding our approach to remote learning that was updated on 17 December.  http://www.catmoseprimary.com/news/returning-to-school/

We are currently in a national lockdown and the Primary is closed to most pupils.  Work for home learners is set daily using Class Dojo as the virtual classroom, enabling feedback to pupils.  Microsoft Teams is used for live teaching sessions for each class and assemblies.

We have issued to parents this week a remote learning protocol which summarises expectations around engagement and behaviour. This can be read here: RDSF Remote learning and behaviour protocol January 2021.

You and your child will also receive next week a survey allowing you the opportunity to feedback on how remote and on-site learning is working for your family.

If you have any questions around our response to Covid-19 that this post does not answer please email office@catmoseprimary.com and a member of the team will get back to you.

TESTING

As part of the Rutland and District Schools’ Federation, we are actively engaged in using lateral flow tests to support the continued attendance of staff. We have trained enough staff to maintain six testing bays and have already tested Primary school staff at least once – some 500 tests were carried out in our first week of operation. We plan to test every member of our community attending site on a weekly basis with additional testing and tracing of close contacts if we have a positive case.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

We are providing hot lunches on site for pupils who attend school and food parcels for those at home.

ON-SITE PROVISION

We continue to teach around 10-15 pupils each day in each class (7 classes) to support their families frontline work.  We therefore have all staff continuing to attend work as normal to support these pupils and support pupils who are learning from home. We are restricting visitors to help keep our site Covid-secure.  Parents are able to access home learning resources from the KS2 playground gazebo from 9.30-10.30am and 2-3pm each day.  Please liaise with your class teacher to request any resources needed.
